Stimulation at School
			How does it work?
Exito has developed a stimulus program for each age group of 1-6 years, which basically consists of an activity book and a milestone book for each year group.
The main purpose for the implementation of such a program is to stimulate optimal development. The program, therefore, contains activities for the stimulation of gross motor, fine motor, sensory and perceptual development. There are activities for 40 weeks of the year.
In the first year of a child’s life, he develops incredibly much in all areas. Because the milestones in the first 12 months differed so much and changed from month to month, there were separate milestones and activities for each month from 4 to 9 months, 10 and 11 months combined and set out for 12 months.
The two-year-old group has milestones for 15 months, 18 months, 2 years 0 months, and 2 years 6 months. Each child can therefore be monitored well at his or her level of development. From three years to 6 years, there are evaluation checklists for March, June and November compiled from the milestones for those ages. The program includes options for upgrading and downgrading to each activity to ensure the children achieve success. Guidelines regarding presentation, adaptation possibilities, and precautions are also included.
Checklists are provided on which activity evaluation can be completed weekly to continuously monitor the child’s participation. The information can be used at the end of a term to complete the child’s milestone checklist for March, June, or November. June and November checklists contain the same milestones. It can therefore already be seen in June what still needs to be paid attention to so that the child reaches the necessary milestones to move on to the next year’s group. The child can therefore still perform at level two in June, which is sufficient because there is still an opportunity for further development so that at the end of the year he can achieve the goal of performing at level three.
Advantage
The advantage of such a program is that it provides an easy and efficient system for the teacher to monitor a child’s progress and therefore possible developmental delays can be identified early, addressed, and possibly later school problems prevented.
